Pastor's Corner - Search update

Dear Friends,
A few weeks ago pastor and blogger Kevin DeYoung shared a helpful post called A Search Committee Is Not a Stealth Committee.  In this article, he shares some helpful tips to congregations and their leadership on how to maintain healthy communications during pastor search processes. I would like to make sure I am doing that with you!
Several months ago we announced and asked you to pray for the Session as we begin to search for and select an assistant pastor (I wrote about that in this post). I would like to update you on that process through a few bullet points:
  • We strategically decided not to post the opening on national ministry job boards. Instead, we sought out men in our denomination through personal contacts to see who would be a good fit for Cornerstone.
  • To date, we have spoken with dozens of men about the position and have been encouraged about the number of godly men serving in churches in our denomination.
  • We are not trying to talk to just any candidate but someone who shares our vision for ministry and, specifically, ministry to families.
  • The Session is beginning to have in-depth conversations with a few men whom we feel would be a good fit for Cornerstone.
  • Lord willing, by the end of the calendar year, God will lead us to the man He is calling to serve alongside the body of Christ here at Cornerstone.
Please pray for the Session as we interview candidates. Please pray that God will bring His man to Cornerstone. Please pray for the family of this man as they plan for a potential move.
See you Sunday!
by His grace and to His praise,

Wilson

Worship Notes: October 11, 2015
  • Hosea 8 is our sermon text this week. Unfortunately, it seems that the situation in Israel is going from bad to worse....but, there is hope for God is merciful.
  • In preparation for the sermon: Charles Spurgeon preaching on Hosea 8:7, "Beware, I pray you, of trifling with the eternal principles of justice and of right and wrong! Beware of ever sanctioning what you consider to be only a little evil, for, if you do, the greater evil is sure to follow at its heels!"
  • A new hymn for the week: God of My Life
