Pastor Wilson A. Shirley Senior Pastor
Wilson is the first pastor of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, AL, since 2014. Prior to Cornerstone, he was at Highlands Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland, MS, where he served as the Pastor to Students and Families. A native of Mississippi, he graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology. While at MSU, the Lord called him to youth ministry at Grace Presbyterian Church in Starkville, MS. In 2001 he went to serve in Pensacola, FL at Pinewoods Presbyterian Church. He and his wife Laura met while attending MSU. Wilson received a Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS in 2010. He serves on the boards of the Alabama Church Planting Network, Providence Classical School, and Sacred Road Ministries. Wilson loves all things outdoors and reading. He and Laura have four children, Andrew, Forrest, Ann Evelyn, and Sarah Elizabeth, and an uber-friendly golden doodle named Toby.
Pastor Brian Russ Associate Pastor
Brian became the first assistant pastor of Cornerstone in January 2016. Prior to Cornerstone, he served as the Youth Pastor at Arden Presbyterian Church in Asheville, NC from 2005-2015. He was born in Wilson, NC and spent his teenage years in Lexington, SC. Brian graduated from Clemson University, where he met his lovely wife Audrey. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC in 2005. Brian’s interests include 80s music, Clemson football, barbecue, and Reese’s pieces. He and Audrey have four children: Eowyn, Leah, Allison, and William. In October of 2018, Brian was called by the congregation to become the first Associate Pastor of Cornerstone.
Chris Moody
ASSISTANT PASTOR TO STUDENTS AND FAMILIES
Chris Moody is from Madison, MS. He attended Belhaven University where he studied Biblical Studies and Business. After graduation, Chris worked as an intern for RUF at Oklahoma State University. While in Oklahoma, he felt a call to ministry and was accepted into Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS where he graduated in 2023. Chris spent his first three years at RTS working with Christian Medical and Dental Associations at UMMC and his final year at First Presbyterian Church Jackson, MS. Chris loves cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels, playing sports, watching a good movie, the outdoors, and finding the best burger in town.
John Summers Assistant Pastor
John and his family have worshipped at Cornerstone since 2014. He is a local practicing attorney and has also studied theology at the University of Chester (UK). In 2017, John was licensed by Providence Presbytery and began providing pulpit supply to churches in the Presbytery. In the fall of 2023, John was ordained and came on to the Cornerstone staff part-time, focusing on Adult Sunday School ministry. John enjoys reading, running, and classical music.
Bob Boerner Men's Ministry Coordinator
Bob Boerner is a native Huntsvillian! He has been the YBL Director of North Alabama since 1998. He graduated from Grissom High School, has a BA from Auburn University, and M. Div. from The International School of Theology in Southern California. He and Jenni have been married 28 years and have raised 3 wonderful young men: Robert, John, and William. Bob loves all kinds of boating and fishing—and he is passionate about helping men walk with Christ in every aspect of their lives.
Heidi Honeywell Women’s Ministry Coordinator
Heidi grew up in Central Florida and attended the University of Florida, graduating with a degree in Finance. She and her husband, Mike, moved to Huntsville in 1992. They have two sons, Brandon and Hudson. Her interests include gardening, music, reading, and loving on her two yellow labs. Heidi has a heart to serve the women of the church. Morgan High
Student Ministry Coordinator
Morgan is a Huntsville native. She found Christ in college through Campus Outreach ministries. She graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2019 and served as an administrative assistant and in middle school youth at Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church for two years before returning to Huntsville. Morgan married her husband Nathan in 2021. She loves spending time with her husband, hiking, playing pickleball, and loving on her golden retriever, Simba.
Rick DillonChurch Administrator
Rick grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Auburn University. Upon graduation, he returned to Birmingham and began a 38-year career with the First National Bank Bank of Birmingham which became AmSouth Bank which became Regions Bank. Rick married his high school sweetheart in 1983 and accepted a new role with the bank in Huntsville in 1992 where he served until his retirement in 2019. Rick and Wendy have three children - Michael (married to Denia), Katherine (married to William Bondurant), and Andrew. They also have the most beautiful grandchildren ever. Rick and Wendy enjoy their days outdoors - camping with friends, gardening, and traveling to see the grandkids. Rick has served as a deacon at Cornerstone since 2019.
Lauren HillMinistry Assistant
Lauren and her husband, Jamie, grew up in Tennessee. They met while attending the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and married in 2003. Jamie and Lauren have five children Madison, Caroline, Amelia, Zander, and Olivia. She has a degree and early professional experience in Marketing. She has been on staff and volunteered at the Huntsville Pregnancy Resource Center and is currently an active volunteer at her church, The Rock Family Worship Center. Lauren enjoys spending time with her family, running, and doing just about anything outdoors.
Jordan Busk
Communications Assistant
Jordan is a Huntsville native and has experience working in several local churches. She is married to Jon and they have two children, Nora and Barrett. She is a Mississippi State graduate with a degree in Communications. Jordan has worked for several years as a graphic designer, creating designs for ministries and small businesses in Alabama. Jordan loves cooking, summers at the pool, and spending time with her family.
Jenny Roberts Hospitality Coordinator
Born into a Navy family and marrying into the Air Force, Jenny isn't a native from anywhere but calls the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia home. Huntsville is now second on the "length of residence" list! With a degree in Christian Counseling and a minor in Youth Ministry, Jenny has worked for several large Christian organizations and volunteered in many capacities in her churches and homeschool groups. She has been serving at Cornerstone in the hospitality area for a while, her husband Darren is a deacon, and her two sons, Ethan and Evan, are in the youth group. Jenny loves Christian historical fiction, hot tea, and dark chocolate . . . all at the same time.
Mary Cooper
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY COORDINATOR
Mary grew up in the Mississippi Delta where she attended Delta State University, met her husband, and graduated with a teaching degree. Daniel and Mary have three wonderful children. Mary loves spending time with her family at home, good books, dogs, and meeting new people. The Coopers have been a part of Cornerstone since 2015.
Christina Wendorf Nursery Coordinator
Christina is the Nursery Coordinator, assuming duties for Dee Petcher in May 2021. She attended Springdale Bible College in Birmingham, England and Samford University in Birmingham, AL. She and her husband have four children and they stay busy watching them play sports and practice music. She loves traveling, learning about other cultures, teaching Spanish to children, and spending time with her family.
