Pastor's Corner - Serving Opportunities

Dear Friends,
One of the great privileges and callings that we have as the people of God is to serve. We have this call because it is the calling given to us by our Lord: “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.  For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  (Mark 10:43–45 ESV)I wanted to tell you about two wonderful opportunities to serve coming in June at Cornerstone. The first is the Independent Presbyterian Church in Memphis Youth Choir Tour will come to Cornerstone on Wednesday, June 7th at 5:30pm. The concert will be followed by a meal in the fellowship hall. The group is in need of host homes to host around 35 people. If you would like to serve as a host home, please sign up through the Connect Card or email office@cornerstone-pres.org and let us know how many folks you can host.Another opportunity is Vacation Bible School! The theme this year is Upward Bound - Tracing the journey of Christ from heaven, to the cross, to resurrection glory. VBS will be on June 19th - 22nd from 9 to 11:30 am. Our children's ministry coordinator, Matthew Elliott, is looking for three more adult volunteers to serve as a crew leader, a helper at recreation and a helper at crafts. If you would like to serve, please contact him at matthew@cornerstone-pres.org.Don't forget to register your child, grandchild or neighbor for VBS by visiting www.cornerstone-pres.org/VBS.See you Sunday!By His grace and to His praise,Wilson

  • "At best, the internet is like a wild forest. No one controls it. No one manicures it. It just grows and grows. And in the forest you’ll find plenty of beauty. But be careful, eat the wrong mushrooms and you could die. At worst, the internet is like a wide open garbage dump. Every day people dump more and more onto the pile. Sure you may be able to find something valuable, but you’ll have to wade through a lot of trash first." - Kevin DeYoung, The Internet is Not a Library
