Pastor's Corner

Dear Church Family,

When I started working at Cornerstone in the Spring of 2014, I knew right away that I would need a trusty assistant to help me with the many administrative and ministry needs of Cornerstone. It was at that time that the Lord brought Cynthia Keen to serve in that capacity. She has been a wonderful blessing to me and to many of you.

It is now time for Cynthia to begin a new phase in her life as her husband, Randy, retired last year and now she is ready to retire as well from Cornerstone. In her own words, "When I first had conversations with Wilson about resigning, I told him that I have felt very much that Cornerstone has been my baby. What I've grown to understand ever more clearly is that it is not. It is the Lord's and I've just been blessed to play a part in is growth."

Please join me in thanking Cynthia and giving thanks to God for the love she has shown the Lord Jesus's Church as she has served so well (Hebrews 6:10).

We have seen God's hand of providence in many powerful ways in this year. The Lord continues to show himself faithful and He has done that once again as Geneva Cooper has accepted the position of Ministry Assistant.

Many of you already know Geneva. What you may not know is that I had the opportunity to work with Geneva for nearly ten years in Mississippi at my previous church, Highlands. She has also filled in for Cynthia on and off over the past few years. Geneva has known me and my family for a long time. She moved to Huntsville shortly after I did to be near her children and grandchildren. And of course, you should also know she is Daniel Cooper's mother.

Geneva and her husband Garland are members of Southwood. She will begin work next week in this part-time role. We are blessed to have her with all her experience and her love for working at a local church. Please join me in welcoming Geneva.

In other news, I had the wonderful opportunity to do a video with Pastor Tim Anderson of Clements Baptist Church. Please watch the conversation with me and Pastor Tim by clicking here. They have been very gracious in helping us get out new location ready for ministry.

Finally, there is still plenty of work to be done at our new home on McClung. We will most likely be having volunteer work days there every Saturday until we move in. Please join us this Saturday to help out if you can. You can sign up for a specific task by clicking here
