Pastor's Corner

Dear Friends,

This past week the Session made the difficult decision to suspend in-person worship services for the rest of July. As we stated last week, we made this decision based on what was going on locally and how this was beginning to affect our congregation. We are not aware of anyone being exposed to the virus during a Cornerstone church gathering, however, since Huntsville has been declared a "hot spot", we wanted to ensure that we were doing our part to mitigate the spread during this time.

With that said, we are in high hopes that in-person worship will resume in the month of August. The Session's decision was only for the month of July and not any further at this time. Next week your officers will meet to discuss plans going forward and to make ministry plans for the Fall. Please be in prayer for your leadership. Pray that God would give us wisdom and understanding during this unpredictable time.

Also, please be assured that we believe the church is to assemble ... even during a pandemic. Acts 2:42 is still at the very heart of our mission and vision and we will do everything we can to ensure its significance going forward: “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

In the meantime, let's continue to pray. Pray that God would protect us and our loved ones from the virus. Pray that God would give strength to our health care workers as they fight this unseen enemy. Pray that God would help us, the Church, to love Him and love others during this pandemic.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases.  (Psalms 103:2–3 ESV)

By His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
