Pastor's Corner

Dear Church Family and Friends,

As we near the end of 2021, it has no doubt been an exciting year of transition and we have seen God’s provision in amazing ways! For almost 10 years, the Lord has been, and continues to be, generous to Cornerstone. He has provided for and protected us in more ways than we can enumerate. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

I want to highlight and offer thanksgiving for some of God’s lavish blessings to us this past year:

  1. The Lord has protected us and allowed us to continue ministry in a pandemic.
  2. The Lord graciously showed us this past spring that it was not the time t0 build on our downtown property. As building costs were rising, it became clear that we should not move forward with our building initiative. But as always, God took what could have been a great discouragement and used it for good!
  3. God was faithful to provide an entire church facility that we now call home at 1413 McClung Avenue. There were at least two major efforts to purchase or use this property in Cornerstone’s past. God’s providential timing is always a blessing!
  4. The body of Christ at Cornerstone rallied together in a remarkable way to renovate our new home and prepare it for ministry.
  5. We had a team of over 30 people participate in the Joni and Friends Family Camp this past summer.
  6. As our expenses started to rise, and we were absorbing renovation costs of our new facility, the Lord graciously provided a way for us to exit our lease early on the Martha Pullen building.
  7. And finally, our new church home afforded us the opportunity to not only resume Sunday School but grow our Sunday School ministry to children and adults.

And these are just a few of the many things for which we offer thanksgiving to our Lord!

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” (1 Chronicles 16:34)

As we near the end of the year, the Session and Finance Committee would like to update you regarding the ongoing stewardship activities of the church. God has provided, and continues to bless Cornerstone. It is now our responsibility and privilege to be faithful stewards of the resources that He has given us. God has been faithful to provide and Cornerstone has never lacked the financial resources to fulfill her mission and vision. Whether it has been hiring new staff, paying rental expenses or purchasing property, the Lord was generous to us this past year.

A letter will be mailed out to the congregation this week. Please take the time to read the letter and pray for Cornerstone.

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
