Pastor's Corner

Dear Church Family and Friends,

This Sunday we will begin a new sermon series on The Ten Commandments. Actually, only in last 500 years did they begin to be called the Ten Commandments. The Hebrew Old Testament actually refers to this section as The Ten Words or the Ten Pronouncements (Exodus 34:28). This is also why the Ten Commandments are referred to as the Decalogue.

For the next two Sunday we will actually look in depth at the first two verses of Exodus 20 which reads, “And God spoke all these words, saying, 'I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery." These two short verses set the stage and give the context for the why the ten commandments were given. Actually the context can be found in Exodus 19 as well. The point is that the ten commandments did not just show up as ten rules to follow or else! They have a background. They were given by God to His people for a reason.

This Sunday we will begin to explore that reason. I hope you will join us.

In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that we have published our Holy Week schedule. On April 10th and 17th, we will have our two services as normal at 8:30 and 11:00am. There will be Sunday School as normal on the 10th but on Easter Sunday, the 17th we will have a fellowship brunch in the Family Life Center at 9:45am between both services. All services will be at our home on McClung.

See you Sunday!

by His Grace and to His Praise,

Pastor Wilson
