Dear Church Family and Friends,

This past week we wrapped up our summer sermon series in the Psalms with Psalm 72. There was one phrase that I have continued to meditate on as we think about King Jesus being the best King there is! That phrase is found in v.14 which says, "precious is their blood in his sight”.

That is an amazing truth about our King Jesus. It means that every bit of suffering that we have experienced or will experience, is precious to Him. He cares about every drop of blood that is shed. Every hurt that we have experienced. Our king is amazing this way!

And we know this is not just a sentiment from Jesus. The late biblical counselor David Powlison said, "Jesus himself was touched with the weaknesses, struggles, and temptation of those with whom he spoke and for whom he died”.

The fact that Jesus cares this much about us, that He sympathizes with us, reminds me of another amazing promise found in the final kingdom of God, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Rev. 21:4 ESV). There will be no more shedding of blood in the New Heavens and the New Earth ... there will not even be tears! Our Lord's compassion is that wonderful!

May these truths help us to love Jesus more!

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
