Dear Cornerstone Family,

This summer, we are continuing a tradition of preaching through the Psalms that began in 2017, when we spent a whole summer preaching through Psalm 119. In 2018, we started with Psalm 1 and have preached 12 Psalms each summer. At this rate, we may finish sometime around 2030! The Psalms have often been called the "Hymnbook of Israel", offering praise to God in all seasons of life. There are Psalms of hope, confidence, lament, thanksgiving, wisdom, kingship, remembrance, and hymns of praise. Often as we read the Psalms, we find words to express our longings, ask questions, praise God, and articulate our trust in Him when we have a hard time coming up with those words. We encourage you to read the Psalm being preached before the sermon each week in preparation for worship.

On Sunday, Pastor Chris will preach Psalm 73, the beginning of Book III of the Psalms. It is one of the many Psalms of Asaph we’ll have the opportunity to study together this summer. Asaph was one of the Levite musicians (see 1 Chronicles 15 and 16 for background) who was appointed by David to play alongside the Ark of the Covenant.

We look forward to a great summer together learning and growing in the Psalms with you.

See you Sunday!

Pastor Brian
