Newsletter | August 30, 2024

Dear Church Family and Friends,

This Sunday I am excited to be back in the pulpit. I have missed preaching the Word and look forward to resuming this important part of my ministry at Cornerstone.

This Sunday, we will transition to a new sermon series in the Gospel of Matthew. In this series, we will explore Jesus' ministry through the eyes of one of Jesus' own Apostles. We will begin in Matthew chapter 4. Let me explain why we will begin there.

It has been our custom every year to have an Advent series at Christmas time to focus on the incarnation of Christ. Last year in 2023, we studied the Genealogy of Jesus and made our way up through Matthew chapter 3. We later took a break from Romans and looked at the final week of Jesus' life for Easter early this year. We will now pick back up in chapter 4 and quickly move to the Sermon on the Mount where we will camp out for quite some time.

Matthew 4 will be an important transition point in Matthew's Gospel as we prepare for the first of one of five major teaching blocks in the book of Matthew, the Sermon on the Mount— the GREATEST sermon ever preached. It will be a great blessing to us to learn how our great King desires for us to live and be in His kingdom.

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
