Dear Church Family and Friends,

It is good to be home! This week is my first week back at Cornerstone after a three-month sabbatical. As I return and get readjusted to the rhythms of ministry, I must say, "Thank YOU!" That doesn't seem to be sufficient but I am truly grateful to the elders of Cornerstone who allowed and encouraged me to take this sabbatical but also to you, the congregation who supported me and my family while we were away. “I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Cor. 1:4 ESV)

I learned a lot while I was away, but one chief thing that I learned is that we LOVE Cornerstone. We missed our church family the whole time we were away. We are most excited about returning to the weekly rhythms of worshipping with you, our family. Thank you for welcoming us back. I love being your pastor.

I was fortunate to be able to do a lot of reading while I was on sabbatical. I hope you have had a chance to pick up Side by Side: Walking with Others in Wisdom and Love. I believe the principles taught in this book will help us go deeper in our mission to be a community of Christ's followers who worship, grow, and serve together to glorify God in Huntsville and throughout the world. Pick up a copy in the Gathering Room ... there are still plenty left!

"In our era, we consult experts, professionals, and specialists, but when you look at your own history of having been helped, it’s likely that you’ll notice very few experts among those who have helped you. Who were your helpers? Were they professional counselors or specialists? Probably not. Most often, they were friends—the regular, everyday people in your life. Friends are the best helpers. They come prepackaged with compassion and love. All they need is wisdom, and that is available to everyone." (From the introduction by Ed Welch).

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
