A New Home for Cornerstone

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Cornerstone,I'm happy to report to you that after much prayer and planning, the Session has executed a lease on a property that will be home to Cornerstone for the next three to six years. This past year the Lord has blessed Cornerstone with some significant growth. Our worship attendance has increased, our nursery is full and our Sunday School discipleship program has strengthened. We are straining the capacity of First Cumberland and our ministry is being constrained. All of these factors, and the fact that our lease is expiring, have led us to pursue a transition away from First Cumberland as our temporary home. The building that we are leasing is located at 149 Old Big Cove Road, Brownsboro, AL 35741. (This is within the city limits of Huntsville). Located right off of Hwy 431 just over Monte Sano is a building known to many people in Huntsville as the old Martha Pullen facility. It is directly behind Interior Market Place on Hwy 431. This facility is two-stories, approximately 20,000 square feet and has an elevator that will accommodate our members with mobility limitations. At one time, the second story housed a church known as The Church at Hampton Cove. We are excited about this property because of its size and growth room that it will have for our congregation. It will house our church offices and all of Cornerstone's programs and expanding church activities. The building is located approximately 5 miles from Huntsville Hospital on Governor's Drive, about an 8 minute drive. We recognize this location is a little outside of the downtown footprint where we desire for Cornerstone to be permanently located. However, after a diligent search over the whole city, this is the best option available to our growing congregation right now. We see this building as an intermediate solution with hopes that in the next 3-6 years, we will find a permanent location in the downtown area. We believe this new location for our church on Old Big Cove Road will be a great place for us to worship, house our offices and hold many church events while we mature as a congregation and, with God's blessing, plan for a long-term solution for our church family. This Sunday, May 3rd, the leadership will have an Informational Presentation to the Congregation immediately following the worship service. At that time, you will learn more details related to the transition of our church to this new building and about the church's finances related to the growth of our ministry.

Please join with me in prayer, thanking our Lord for His provision. Please also be in prayer for the leadership as well as countless volunteers who have already begun to work on the transition to the new facility.
See you Sunday!Your Pastor,Wilson A. Shirley
