Pastor's Corner - We are expanding!

Dear Church Family,
I wanted to update you on two exciting items that pertain to Cornerstone's ministry. This first is New Adult Sunday School Rooms! The leadership knew when we moved into our current facility that there would be many opportunities for ministry in the 20,000 square foot space. We also knew that we needed to move into the building and occupy it in order to see how to best maximize the vast space in the building for our different ministries. As you know, the first floor of our current building was built-out to be a business and not a church. On the first floor hallway, there are two rooms opposite each other that are being used as adult Sunday School rooms. What you may not know is that inside of these two large rooms are smaller, unused office spaces or closets. In both rooms, the additional areas account for approximately 2000 square feet of unused space. Therefore the officers have decided to move ahead and remodel each of these classrooms turning each space into two rooms giving us a total of four adult Sunday School classrooms. Once this remodel is complete, each classroom will be larger than any current room that we have. Click here to view the remodel floor plan so that you can see the added space. The addition of these classrooms is vital for us to grow ministry. Currently, the Pathfinders class meets on the 2nd floor in an area that is now needed for additional children's ministry space. Also, the Reformers class is meeting in a less than ideal room off the fellowship hall with no room to grow or spread out. Remodeling this first floor area into four adult classrooms will give all of our adult Sunday Schools plenty of room to stretch out and also be located together to increase community.Demolition and construction will begin Monday, February 8th. There will be no Sunday School on February 14th as we officially welcome the Russ family to Cornerstone at a church-wide reception in the fellowship hall after worship. Depending on the pace and progress of construction, the church officers will notify the adult Sunday School leaders on alternative meeting locations for Sunday, February 21st. Please be in prayer for this process and please pray that God will use this additional space to grow discipleship at Cornerstone. Stay tuned for more updates! If you have any questions about this project, please contact a Cornerstone deacon. On another front, we are now Live Streaming our worship services. While there is absolutely no replacement for attending corporate worship each week - being physically present with the body of Christ - we realize that that we do have people in our congregation who are ill and others who are unable to attend worship services. Additionally, we know that for providential reasons, you or your family may be traveling out of town. For all of these reasons, we hope that this service will allow you to still be a part of weekly worship at Cornerstone. Check it out at cornerstonepres.org/live or go to the website and click "Watch Live".And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.  (Hebrews 10:24–25 ESV)
Looking forward to worshipping with you on this Lord's Day!
Your pastor,
Wilson

  • J.I. Packer's Knowing God is definitely one of the top five books that has influenced my life. I just finished reading and absorbing Mark Jones' Knowing Christ. This work is tremendous. Check out this review. "But every once in a while a book comes along that has longevity because of its subject matter and authorial excellence."
