Pastor's Corner - Praising God & Planning for the Future

Dear Friends,This past weekend the Session had an opportunity to go on a vision and strategic planning retreat. This is something we hope to do yearly to pray, plan and ask the Lord to direct us in the leadership and shepherding of His Church. There were many take aways from our time together and I wanted to share a few of those with you.
  1. We are as committed as ever to our mission and vision of Acts 2:42. We want to continue to be and grow as a community of believers...devoted to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
  2. During our time, a key theme that kept coming to the surface, that we believe was the Spirit's leading, is that we, Cornerstone, are a family. In all that we do now in ministry and in the future, we want to enhance the core of who we are.   We are a community of believers.  We are a family.  We are the body of Christ.  As a family, we hope and pray that we can grow together, learn from each other, love one another, work through conflict, fellowship - all the things that a family does together.
  3. We want to continue to grow in our values of Worship, Discipleship, Care and Outreach. We desire to continue a robust and biblical worship service. We will continue a strong Sunday School program. We want to grow in our care for one another and outreach into the community. We are hopeful that we can bring others into our family.
  4. We also discussed the future and where Cornerstone might be located. Although we have no concrete information to share with you now, the facility committee is currently gathering information, talking with consultants and going earnestly before the Lord.  We are hoping to share some information with you at a congregational meeting and town hall type meeting on August 14th. At this meeting, the Session and facility committee would like to share some information with you that we have learned from our search process as well as receive feedback from you, the congregation, with regards to facilities, locations, etc...
  5. We praised God for His lovingkindness and faithfulness to His church, Cornerstone. We reflected and remembered what all the Lord has done in almost four years and it was staggering to see the hand of God and His leading in our body. We are hopeful that He will continue to lead, guide and direct us as we glorify Him and enjoy Him forever.
Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:11–14 ESV)By His grace and to His praise, your friend,
