Pastor's Corner - Parental Advisory

PARENTAL ADVISORY!One of the things that I LOVE about Cornerstone is we are blessed with many children. May God help us to be faithful to raise up this next generation to know and love Him! However, this blessing comes with challenges to me as a preacher. That is especially a concern for me as we are working our way through the book of Joshua. I'm sure you have noticed by now that the book of Joshua is probably rate PG-13.The reason I say this is because there will be many mature subjects that will be addressed in the coming weeks and months as we study the book of Joshua. For instance, this Sunday we will be talking about Rahab, the prostitute. I will make reference to her profession but I do not plan to define terms. I especially want our parents and grandparents to understand this as children may have questions about some of the things that Scripture discusses in the course of regular study of the Word.Additionally, in the coming weeks we will discuss holy war and that will naturally bring up topics such as death, judgment, murder and other things that go along with God's call for His people to take the land by conquest. As uneasy as I am about discussing some of these things, I'm so thankful we are part of a church that values the teaching and preaching of God's Word and we never want to shy away from that - even when it means discussing topics that can be tricky when children are present. If I can help you, the parents, in any way as you discuss and explain these things to your children, let me know. In the meantime, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit would protect hearts and give me the wisdom to speak the truth to all of God's people of all ages.See you Sunday!by His Grace and to His Praise,Wilson
