Pastor's Corner - Getty Music Worship Conference

Newsletter October 12, 2018
Dear Cornerstone Family,A month ago, I had the privilege, along with others from our music team at Cornerstone, to attend the Getty Music Worship Conference - Sing! in Nashville, TN at the Music City Center.  The conference exists to help pastors, musicians and leaders build a Biblical understanding and creative vision for congregational singing and to encourage churches towards a deeper, more dynamic view of theology, artistry and mission in congregational singing.  That’s a mouthful, isn’t it?  But the bottom line is they want to help us sing!  The theme of this year’s conference was the Psalms, with an emphasis on how the Psalms teach us that God is to be glorified and praised in all of life.  They also preached on how the Psalms address the full range of emotions that we experience in life, leading one speaker to say “the Psalms….they are us.”There were several seminars offered on a variety of topics, everything from preaching to instrumental technique, church history to lyric writing, sound system management and a number of other practical topics. We also had many opportunities to sing with thousands of others at several worship sessions, and were led by many of the songwriters of songs that we sing each week at Cornerstone.  There was a choir and orchestra, as well as many other instrumentalists and singers.  What a blessing it was to hear and sing so many wonderful songs! We were also able to attend a concert by the Gettys and friends at the historic Ryman Auditorium where the photograph above was taken. As I’ve had a few weeks now to reflect on this conference, I am so thankful for the opportunity to worship with all of you on a weekly basis.  We are so blessed as a congregation to have so many musicians and audio/visual people who assist us as we worship together each week.  Let’s continue to sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things! (Psalm 98:1)Blessings, Pastor Brian
