Pastor's Corner - Foundations

Pastor's Corner
Dear Cornerstone Family,This week we kick off a new year of Foundations! We are looking forward to gathering together on Wednesday nights for a meal and discipleship opportunities for children, youth and adults. In order to help with anticipated traffic issues, we will begin the meal at 5:30 PM and classes will run from 6:15 to 7:15 PM.There are wonderful opportunities for you and your family to grow in your relationship with Christ during Foundations. The children are learning the Catechism, as they are led by our Children's Ministry Director Paige McClure and a team of fantastic teachers and helpers. They will also have time for music and games each Wednesday. The youth group will gather in the now expanded youth room with our Youth Director Taylor King for fellowship and will be talking about justification together. There is also a nursery provided for little ones. For adults, there will be a study called "For the Life of the World" offered. It is a study of faith and culture based on a series of documentary-style films that are seeking to answer the question: "What does it mean to be in the world, but not of the world?" Each week we will watch a 20 minute film and then have a Bible-based discussion on each topic that is introduced. You can go to the link below for more information and a preview:http://www.letterstotheexiles.com/flow-page/#Pastor Wilson will also be leading an officers' training class for those who were nominated for office. Please pray for our officer nominees as they attend this training and discern God's calling along with our Session. We look forward to seeing you at Foundations!Pastor Brian
Preparation for Worship - January 13, 2019
  • This Sunday's sermon:  "Not One Promised Failed: Biblical Success"      Joshua 1:1-9
  • In preparation for the sermon:  "Joshua as not perfect, and the achievement of 'setting one foot after another in quiet compliance with the commands of God' is hardly the way to command the attention and admiration of the world. Nevertheless, obedience is the key to victory in God's service, and Joshua is noteworthy example of this point." - James Montgomery Boice
