Dear Friends,Just this week, a dear saint in the Lord, the Reverend Billy Graham, went to see His Savior and our Savior face to face. He is famously quoted as saying, "Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God." What a testimony.Although Graham did not reside in the Presbyterian and Reformed tradition, he truly was a great evangelical - one who believed and taught that salvation is in Christ alone and that the Bible is the Word of God. For that, we can be very thankful!One of the things you have heard me say many times is that we should read and study the "dead guys." Why do I say this? Because many great believers in Jesus Christ whose writings and teachings have had an impact and continue to have an impact, have gone on to be with the Lord. Men like R.C. Sproul and Billy Graham have left quite a legacy for us to admire. Perhaps the one thing that comes to mind about Rev. Graham is integrity and faithfulness. He did it well for 99 years! He truly lived a life above reproach and He preached a Gospel that we too need to proclaim with a loud and clear voice.This Sunday, during the Sunday School hour, we will have a panel of folks for our congregation talking about evangelism. How providential it is that we planned to talk about this important topic on the heels of the death of perhaps one of the greatest evangelists that our country has ever known.
