I know that many of you reading this are sick or have sick family members. I am praying for you. I know this can be a difficult time to concentrate and do "normal" things. May God help us to have the mind of faithfulness demonstrated by the psalmist: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases." (Psalm 103:2–3 ESV)Knowing that many of you were sick this past Sunday, I want to share with you from the sermon an application I made about the future and vision of Cornerstone as it related to God's people crossing the Jordan and moving into the Promised Land. clicking here.Here is a selection from the sermon:Just as God's people were preparing to cross the Jordan (Joshua 3) and enter the land of promise, so we, Cornerstone, are standing on the banks of God’s will and there is a great unknown before us. God has provided for us to purchase a piece of land downtown - the place where we believe He is calling us to be a light, to be a city on a hill in downtown Huntsville.But the task before us seems great. I mean how is the Lord going to provide the funds and the means necessary for us to build a church in downtown Huntsville? How is it all going to happen?Maybe the bigger question is: Are we going to cross over? If God is leading that way, are we going to go that way knowing that we may not have all the resources in hand? Are we willing to trust Him knowing that we may have to live by faith on many, many decisions?Are we going to move forward, in faith, with what
could be rather than what
can be for Cornerstone?You see what
could be is moving forward asking God to provide for something we cannot see. But what
can be is simple - it’s right in front of us, it is what’s comfortable and often easy.Are we willing to move forward, by faith, with where we believe and are assured that this is where God is calling us?This is the original vision. This is why I moved to Huntsville. This is how I believe God can use Cornerstone in a mighty way in a new place, downtown at the center of city life and economic activity.Are you ready to cross over?Are you ready to move forward knowing that there is a great river … and a near impossible barrier to cross?Will you trust that unless the Lord is not in what we believe He is calling us to do, then we will simply be washed down river?But if He is in it, then we are destined for success!
