Pastor's Corner

Dear Church Family and Friends,

This Sunday is Palm Sunday and begins Holy Week or Passion Week. It marks the final week of our Lord Jesus' life when we remember and celebrate all that He did for us His last week on earth.

But what exactly did Jesus do His last week and why such a big deal at Easter? ...

Two things: His Death and His Resurrection

These two life-altering, history-shaping, cosmic events are the highlight of eternity because they highlight our salvation.

The Heidelberg Catechism offers some helpful reflections on these two events:

43. Q. What further benefit do we receive from Christ's sacrifice and death on the cross? A. Through Christ's death our old nature is crucified, put to death, and buried with Him, so that the evil desires of the flesh may no longer reign in us, but that we may offer ourselves to Him as a sacrifice of thankfulness.

45. Q. How does Christ's resurrection benefit us? A. First, by His resurrection He has overcome death, so that He could make us share in the righteousness which He had obtained for us by His death. Second, by His power we too are raised up to a new life. Third, Christ's resurrection is to us a sure pledge of our glorious resurrection.

These are the things we celebrate and remember this week. Please make plans to worship with us this week.

See you Sunday!

By His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
