Dear Cornerstone Family,

A lot can happen in a year! About this time last year, I wrote a Pastor's Corner about church planting as we are partnering with several church plants and planters in our area. Many of those works were in their infant stages. On the MNA committee of Presbytery, I get a "front-row seat" to see and hear what God is doing in our church plants. Our committee's primary responsibility is to oversee and "stir up" church planting within our Presbytery. We believe that healthy churches lead to healthy church planting efforts, and we are thankful that Cornerstone continues to be connected to church planting in our Presbytery.

One of the exciting developments in the past year is that several church plants are beginning to have worship services on a regular basis! Here are a few brief updates and some contact information:

All Saints Presbyterian Mission - Rev. Matt Patrick  (LEARN MORE)

  • All Saints just held their first morning service last Sunday, October 15! They will continue to meet at West Huntsville Community Fellowship (formerly West Huntsville UMC) at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings.

Grace Fellowship Church Hispanic Mission in Albertville - Rev. Mark Berry

  • Pastor Mark Berry and his wife Lori continue to lead multiple Bible studies in the Albertville community. He serves as a chaplain at AlaTrade (chicken processing plant) and Lori works at the crisis pregnancy center in Albertville.

Hope City Mission in South Madison/Triana - Rev. Amos Williams Jr.  (LEARN MORE)

  • Hope City Mission continues to meet on Sunday evenings in the south Madison area.

Redeemer Presbyterian Church Scottsboro - Rev. Dieter Paulson (LEARN MORE)

  • Redeemer Scottsboro began weekly Sunday morning services earlier this year after meeting on Sunday evenings for a few years.

Southside Presbyterian Mission in South Huntsville - Rev. Adam Venable  (LEARN MORE)

  • Southside Presbyterian Mission is hosting its second morning preview service this coming Sunday, October 22 at 10:00 AM at the Vision Retreat Center on Bailey Cove Road. Please pray for the provision of a regular meeting place.

Good Shepherd Presbyterian Mission in West Madison - Rev. Nathan White

  • Good Shepherd is the newest mission church of our Presbytery, established in 2023. They are in the "gathering" phase as Pastor Nathan White has just officially started his work as a church planter.

How can you help our church planters and church plants? Consider these four categories and how you might be involved:

  1. Pray - Pray for the church planter and for the ministry and outreach of the church plant.

  2. Give- Give financially to church planting works to help fund their mission.

  3. Help/Resource - Do you know someone who might need to hear about one of these church planting works? Can you help make connections in the community? Can you serve in some way— providing food for a gathering or using your gifts to help in some way?

  4. Go! - Consider going to be a part of a church plant.

If you have questions about any of our church plants, please feel free to ask. I am looking forward to our time together on Sunday!

Pastor Brian
