Dear Church Family and Friends,

"I can't believe you are double-digits! 10 years old!" ... I remember saying those words to all four of my children. It was such a milestone in our house when all the kids reached that age. It also caused Laura and me to look back and marvel at God's mercy and faithfulness over all those years. We now have the opportunity to do that as a church family.

This Sunday, Cornerstone will celebrate 10 years as a local church in Huntsville! It is hard to believe! Many of you know the humble beginnings of Cornerstone. It started as a group called Huntsville Bible Study and met at the Cooper House of Central Presbyterian Church downtown. I was not around back then but I have heard the stories ... and we will hear some of them this Sunday! Could we have imagined back then what God would do over ten years later? ... I think only one response is appropriate and it is the same response the Apostle Paul had to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in Ephesians 3 when he wrote,  “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Eph. 3:20–21 ESV)

The second part of that verse is just as important and it is at the heart of our mission statement. We want to be a church that glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ through all generations! As we remember God's faithfulness these past 10 plus years, we also look forward and ask the Lord to help us be a faithful body for the next 10, 20, 100 years!

This past week, Providence Presbytery met at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Next year FPC Tuscumbia will celebrate 200 years as a local church! To God be the glory! I'm sure in their history there were difficult times but this past week I got to hear God's Word faithfully proclaimed from the pulpit at that church. Amazing grace that God would sustain a church that long. That is my prayer for Cornerstone, that we would be a faithful church that is faithful to the Scriptures, true to the Reformed faith, and obedient to the Great Commission ... until Jesus returns!

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. (Deut. 7:9 ESV)

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,
Pastor Wilson
