Dear Church Family and Friends,

What a strange week it has been! I'm not sure I can remember having three inches of ice near my house that did not include some snow!

Many of you know that we have been in a drought, so I'm sure this is one of God's gracious provisions to provide for us in ways that we don't always fully understand. We do know that moisture from the sky is always good and for our blessing. Isaiah says,

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.  (Isaiah 55:10–11 ESV)

What an amazing promise! That just as the rain (and the snow!) nourishes the Earth, so does God's Word. His Word that goes forth will always accomplish God's good purposes. We can be assured of that!

I know many of you, like my family, are probably a little stir-crazy because of the extreme weather we are experiencing. Due to the ice and road conditions, we have been unable to open the church office this week. This has led the elders to re-assess our plan for worship on Sunday, January 21st.

Here is the plan! Lord willing, we hope to have one single worship service this Sunday at 11:00 am with a few caveats:

  • In order for us to have worship this Sunday, we are hoping for the parking lots to be safe. At this point, they are not. We have staff and deacons who live close by and are monitoring the conditions. We will keep praying for more ice to melt!

  • There will be no Sunday School, nursery, or coffee service provided this Sunday.

  • We will make a final call on this plan on Sunday morning at 8 am.

If we are unable to have in-person worship this Sunday, please check your email for a resource to guide you and your family in a time of personal and family worship.

I can’t wait to get back together with you! Please remember, if you have any need, please reach out to needs@cornerstonehuntsville.org
