Dear Church Family and Friends,

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”  (Romans 1:16–17 ESV)

This Sunday, we will get reacquainted with an old friend, Paul's letter to the church in Rome. I'm looking forward to being back in this study of God's Word with you. It was sad to leave the greatest chapter in the whole Bible, Romans 8, but it is exciting to anticipate all the other good stuff God has for us in the rest of the book of Romans. Lord-willing, we will finish Romans before the summer.

If you were to simply outline the book of Romans, it is easily divided into two parts. Romans 1-11 is Paul's theology of the Gospel and Romans 12-16 is the application of the Gospel. Romans 9-11 begins a new section in Paul's letter that concludes the theology of the Gospel. This is a very difficult portion of Scripture that has sparked much debate over the millennia about its true meaning and how we understand it in the New Testament church. But difficult passages of Scripture should not move us to ignore or skip over their importance. Difficult passages of Scripture should move us to work harder and seek the Spirit's help for meaning and understanding. God's holy Word is worth our time. It is worth our devotion so that we may know Him more, glorify Him, and enjoy Him forever!

See you Sunday!

By His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
