Newsletter | January 10, 2025

Dear Church Family and Friends,

Happy New Year! After a wonderful season of Advent, reflecting on the glory of God in the incarnation, we now turn the page to a new year, 2025! It is hard to believe. Just typing those numbers and seeing them on a screen looks like the future!

As we begin the new year, we will turn back to Matthew's Gospel and study Jesus’ magnificent teaching in the Sermon on the Mountain. This week we will begin a new section in Sermon on the Mountain where Jesus will do what I like to call "heart surgery." Not in a physical sense but in a spiritual sense Jesus will expose our hearts and how we apply God's indelible truths to our lives. In this new section, we will explore six different antitheses where Jesus will show us that following God's law is more than a matter of external righteousness, but we are to love God and follow Him with all our hearts. This journey through Jesus’ teaching will not be comfortable, but it will be good.

Also, we are closely watching the weather this weekend. If we are unable to worship on Sunday due to road conditions (and the ongoing construction in our parking lot), stay tuned for a family worship guide that will be sent out to help you have some meaningful time in worship at home.

See you Sunday! Lord willing!

by His grace and to His praise,
Pastor Wilson
