Dear Cornerstone Family,

A few weeks ago in our Sunday School study of John's Gospel, we came to the beginning of chapter 13. At the end of chapter 12, Jesus ends his public preaching ministry in Judea. Chapter 13 marks a major transition in John's gospel, as chapters 13-17 contain the last recorded words Jesus speaks to the twelve before he goes to the cross. Chapters 13-17 record the words Jesus thought most important to leave with his disciples before he left them to return to the Father. I know in my own life that John 13-17 is among the handful of biblical texts I find myself returning to and meditating on again and again.

We will spend a good portion of the upcoming fall listening to and learning from Jesus as he speaks to us from chapters 13-17. If you are not currently a regular attendee of Sunday School, let me encourage you to commit yourself afresh to regular Sunday School attendance. These words of Jesus both comfort and challenge us in many ways. Meaningful engagement with Jesus in His word will grow and shape all of us, bringing us into greater love for God and His people.

Many blessings in Christ,

Pastor John
