Dear Church Family and Friends,

I wanted to update you on some important activities and events in the life of our church:

This Sunday is an important and momentous time in the life of Cornerstone as we will ordain and install new elders and deacons. This occasion is one of those times when it feels like the church is being the church. It is a solemn and reverent occasion. We are truly doing something biblical just like we see in Acts 6 when the first deacons were ordained and installed in the early church. “These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.” (Acts 6:6 ESV) The ordination and installation will take place in the first service, followed by a reception in the Family Life Center during the Sunday School hour to welcome these men. Please be in prayer for these men and their ministry.

Also, this Sunday, a photographer will be present to capture some of the life of this important day. These pictures will also be used to update our website at our new church home.

An important update from the Session went our over a week ago that shared our strategic vision. If you did not received this letter, please contact the church office.

A few months ago we announced some plans to hold a Fall Conference the last weekend in October. Due to providential circumstances where our speaker was unable to join us and the need for the congregation to have some time to process the strategic vision laid out by the Session, we will not be having the conference this year. We have enough going on for sure! Please plan to attend the Sunday School hour on Sunday, October 30th as the Session share more details and answer your questions.

Parents of teens and pre-teens! I highly encourage you to pick up a copy of Age of Opportunity by Paul Tripp. It is a wonderful resource to guide you in faithful, biblical parenting during these important years. Copies are for sale in the church lobby.

Finally, a few months ago we announced our intentions to partner with a ministry called Luke 5 Adventures. Cornerstone is officially bringing a chapter to Huntsville! On Wednesday, October 26th, the good folks from the headquarters in Cincinnati will be here offer some training. The training will take place from 5-730pm. If you are interested in being a part of this opportunity, please contact the church office.

See you Sunday!

By His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson

Child Evangelism Fellowship. CEF is a Bible-centered organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living. Cornerstone is hoping to partner with CEF to start a Good News Club at Blossomwood Elementary School. Good News Club® is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship in which trained teachers meet with groups of children in schools, homes, community centers, churches, just about anywhere the children can easily and safely meet with their parent’s permission. You can learn much more by visiting cefonline.com. In the meantime, we are praying that God would raise up a leader and a group of missionaries from Cornerstone to lead this effort.
