Pastor's Corner - Wisdom of Psalm 25

Dear Friends,

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”  (Galatians 1:3–5 ESV)

There is a lot going on in our world right now. In case you didn't realize it, we are in the End Times! How do I know that? Because Jesus himself told us so. He says at the end of the book of Revelation that he is coming soon! There is no need to be alarmed or scared. This is reason to rejoice! Pestilence, plagues, riots, wars, political unrest, it has been happening for hundreds of years since Christ ascended into heaven. THE NEXT BIG THING that we are waiting on is the return of Christ. We don't have to wonder - we don't have to try to interpret the news cycle - we don't have to go hide in a bunker somewhere.

If we don't do these things, then what are we to do? Jesus tells us the answer to that too! “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8 ESV) This is what we need to do!

To help you and with that, I want to share with you the seven nuggets of wisdom from Psalm 25 that I preached on this past Sunday. I hope they help you pray and wrestle with this fallen world in which we live. But more importantly, I hope they help you look to Jesus and trust Him and long for Him to return.

So what wisdom from Psalm 25 is there for us as we find ourselves in distress and grapple with a world in turmoil?
When in Distress, Lift Up Your Soul to God (vv.1-3)
Pursue God Through His Word (vv.4-5)
Recall God’s Mercy (vv.6-7)
Learn Humility (vv.8-10)
Know that the Fear of the LORD Is Wisdom (vv.11-15)
Practice Desperate Prayer (vv.16-18)
Learn Patience (vv.19-21)

As you read through Psalm 25 and meditate on these seven nuggets of wisdom, I hope they are encouragement to you - to help you pray and cry out to God and seek Him in distress.  See you Sunday!

By His grace and to His praise,

In preparation for the sermon:   "If we would have the comforts of religion we must maintain habits of piety, v. 1. When David says, I have trusted also in the Lord, he does not refer to some occasional act, but to the tenor of his life. Fits of pious emotions save no man." - William Plummer
