| Dear Friends,This Sunday we begin a new sermon series for the Fall on Romans 8: The Greatest Chapter in the Bible* (according to Wilson Shirley). Why is it the greatest? Quite simply, because it contains some of the most clear truth and greatest hope that anyone can have in the world. It is the greatest because in Christ there are blessings innumerable.Of course, Romans 8 is in the middle of a 16 chapter expositional tour de force on the Gospel. It is Paul's most complete and grand writing on the inexhaustible Gospel. As a matter of fact, Paul's exploration of the deep Gospel goes all the way up to end of chapter 11 and he has only one thing left that he can say:"Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen." (Romans 11:33–36 ESV)Oh the depth of the Gospel! That is what Romans 8 is about ... it is a deep exploration of news that is so good that it must be mined as for treasure. It is sweeter than honey. It is more precious than gold.I hope that you will read and study along with me in this wonderful chapter.
