Pastor's Corner - Does the Reformation Still Matter?

Dear Friends,Does the Reformation still matter? As we reflect upon the last 500 years of the Lord's goodness, do we still need to keep talking about the Reformation? In short, YES! Here's why.The Reformation recovered something that was covered up in a mess of church bureaucracy and "tradition". In short, the church got away from the Gospel of Grace. That is why the Five Solas has been such a wonderful reminder of who God is and what He has done. And just what has He done? He has saved us by His grace, through faith, in Christ ALONE! And this is for the glory of God alone and we discover these wonderful truths in the Scriptures alone. That is why at Cornerstone, and in the PCA, we want to preach the Bible, sing the Bible, read the Bible and pray the Bible.R.C. Sproul has a great reminder here of why the Scriptures must be loved, studied and affirmed in the church:“In our day we have seen a revival of interest in the Bible and a renewed commitment to the authority and trustworthiness of Scripture. But the Reformation was more than a doctrine about the Bible. It was sparked by a deep and serious study of the Bible. It is not enough to extol the virtue of Scripture - we must hear the teaching of Scripture afresh. It is only by a serious and earnest recovery of biblical truth that we will be able to avoid falling into a new cesspool of heresy.” - R.C. SproulThis Sunday evening at 6pm, please join Cornerstone and other PCA churches from the area at Southwood Presbyterian for a service celebrating what our Triune God has done and continues to do through the Reformation.by His grace and to His praise,Wilson

  • In preparation for the sermon: "The encouragement extended to the people of God is that the unuttered gorans are the index to the fact that God does "exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20) and that not our infirmity of understanding and request is the measure of God's grace but the knowledge, wisdom, and love the Holy Spirit." - John Murray
