Dear Friends,
This week a letter went out to the congregation highlighting a number of things. Among them was an exciting announcement that the Session wants to put forward to the congregation a mission statement for Cornerstone: "The mission of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church is to be a community of Christ’s followers who worship, grow, and serve together to glorify God in Huntsville and throughout the world."As we pray about moving downtown and being a light in our city, this has caused our leaders to reflect on the mission and vision of the church. Since its inception, Cornerstone has had a vision statement based on Acts 2:42. We love this vision as it has given us clear direction and purpose as to who we are and who we hope to be. “Why do we need a separate mission and vision statement,” you may ask? Good question!We believe a mission statement helps to articulate how we plan to accomplish our vision. A mission statement helps us to clarify vision and give us clear purpose as we pray about relocating to downtown.
