Pastor's Corner -Growing In Faith

Dear Friends,
School is back! And that means learning is back! Let's not only devote ourselves to helping our children study and gain knowledge in this world that God created but we must all devote ourselves to our own personal discipleship. That means, we must grow as followers of Jesus. And the local church can help! This Fall we have many opportunities for spiritual growth at Cornerstone. First among them is the preaching of God's Word during Sunday corporate worship. Our discipleship model is built around expounding God's Word and applying it to our daily lives. This Sunday we will begin a new series in Paul's letter to the Philippians called Gaining Christ. In this study, we will look at how it is more of Christ that we need in our lives to faithfully follow God in our discipleship. As an aide to studying the book for yourself and to take notes during sermons, Crossway's new Philippians Scripture Journal is available to purchase for $3 in the narthex. Pick one up for you and your family!Additionally, this Sunday is promotion Sunday at Cornerstone. This means our children and youth will go to their new Sunday School classes that correspond to their new grade at school. The new class divisions are:  Preschool (3s), PreK-Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd-3rd Grade, 4th-5th Grade, 6th-8th, 9th-12th. The adults will combine some classes for an extended time of a fellowship and an opportunity to kick off their new Fall Sunday School study in the three epistles of John. On Wednesday, September 5th, we will begin Foundations. Below is all of the information you need to learn about discipleship opportunities for children, youth and adults.Furthermore, there are small group opportunities for men and women. Learn about those opportunities by looking at the announcements below. What a great time this will be to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I hope you will take advantages of these opportunities.
See you Sunday!
