Pastor's Corner - Give Thanks!

Dear Cornerstone Family:“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!” (Psalm 107:1)The Thanksgiving season is a wonderful time to reflect and give thanks to our God for all of his blessings, and then to demonstrate thanks by giving to others! There are several upcoming opportunities here at Cornerstone for us to do just that and rejoice in God’s gracious provision to us as we serve others.
  • This year we are filling shoeboxes for children on the Yakama Indian Reservation in Washington. This is a great way to connect to the ongoing work of Sacred Road ministries, who we have partnered with the past two summers, and to give to children in that community. Boxes are available both upstairs in the hall and downstairs in the fellowship hall.   Deadline to return the boxes is Sunday, November 18th. For more information, contact Paige McClure at paige@cornerstone-pres.org.  More details are listed in the section below.
  • Please pray for our college students, who are preparing for exams.  Each year, the ladies of Cornerstone assemble goody boxes to send them as an encouragement during exam week.  Ladies will gather on Tuesday, Nov. 27th, at 9:30 a.m. at the church to prepare the boxes to ship.  If you are able to provide goodies for the boxes, you can go to the online sign-up HERE and note what you will prepare.  If you would like your student to receive a box, please send your student's full name, college, and mailing address to the church office at junebughsv@gmail.com by Friday, November 23rd.
  • Each year as an extension of its ministryInFocus looks for volunteers who are willing to open their home for Thanksgiving to international students.  Two students would be assigned to each home.  If you are interested in serving in this way, please contact John Chisum at jpchisum@yahoo.com.  Registration deadline is November 16th.

As we enter into the Thanksgiving season, I am thankful for each of you and our church family here at Cornerstone. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! With Thanks,Pastor Brian
