Pastor's Corner

Dear Church Family and Friends,

I know this will not be news to you, but we live in a fallen world. Whether it is a war, identity crises, political turmoil or family tragedies, we are faced every day with the reality that this world is not how it should be. Sin has ravaged everything. Nothing has been left untouched by this reality.

But there is good news! The Gospel reminds us that Jesus has overcome the world. Christ has conquered sin and death. He has disarmed the rulers and authorities. And He has called us His friends and counted us as co-heirs with Him in the kingdom of God.

So though we live in a broken world, we do not live as those who have no hope. Our hope is in the one, true King who rules and reigns far above all powers and authorities. And thought this world can feel hard, cruel and depressing at times, our hope is not in the world but in Christ alone. And He is going to return to make all things new.

And so what do we do until then? How do we live? What does "a long obedience in the same direction" look like for us, as Eugene Peterson put it? ...

We will this Sunday as we study the Fourth Commandment on the Sabbath we will begin to explore how God has a created one day in seven as a day of remembrance for rest and redemption. And this day, that we now call the Lord's Day, is such an important day to help us know how to live, know how to cope and know how to worship as the redeemed people of God.

I do hope your weekend plans include corporate worship with God's people.

See you Sunday!

By His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
