Newsletter | September 2, 2022

Dear Church Family and Friends,

Several important things were announced this past Sunday. I wanted to highlight them again.

  1. Cornerstone Fall Conference: October 28-30, 2022. This is a new tradition we hope to start each Fall where we have an all-weekend Bible conference to encourage and equip the body of Christ at Cornerstone. This year we are pleased to have the Reverend Joe Novenson. Pastor Joe was most recently the Senior Teaching Pastor at Lookout Mountain PCA in Chattanooga. We will all be blessed by his preaching ministry during that weekend. Stay tuned for more information!

  2. Called Congregational Meeting on Sunday, September 25th, 9:45am for the purposes of voting on officer candidates. This is an important calling for all members of Cornerstone to pray for and vote on the men put forward by the congregation. Please pick up a brochure in the church foyer to see the men eligible for voting.

  3. FOUNDATIONS is back this week! This is a great opportunity mid-week for us to gather, fellowship and learn together. All the details are below. Please make sure you RSVP if you plan to attend the dinner.

Finally, I wanted to tell you about a wonderful ministry called Child Evangelism Fellowship. CEF is a Bible-centered organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living. Cornerstone is hoping to partner with CEF to start a Good News Club at Blossomwood Elementary School. Good News Club® is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship in which trained teachers meet with groups of children in schools, homes, community centers, churches, just about anywhere the children can easily and safely meet with their parent’s permission. You can learn much more by visiting cefonline.com. In the meantime, we are praying that God would raise up a leader and a group of missionaries from Cornerstone to lead this effort. If you are interested and would like to know more, please let me know.

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson

CRITICAL UPDATES FROM UGANDA

Dear Sixty Feet family,
We want to update you on a few situations going on in Uganda. Often, there are things we cannot share on social media or our website, as we need to honor our relationship with the government. But, with our email, we can let you know a few ways to be praying.

Over 40 street-connected babies and toddlers, all under 3, were rounded up and taken to M3. These children are from a specific tribe in the north and are often trafficked to Kampala to make money by begging. They are now at M3 and the needs are overwhelming. The staff have asked 5 and 6 year olds to each care for one baby. Our medical team is working tirelessly to meet their health needs, as many of them are sick, malnourished, or have skin infections. Our staff is working to get them more clothes, food, and other immediate medical needs, such as diapers.

The children at M2 are supposed to go to court on a regular schedule. However, due to a lack of government funding, they have not been able to buy fuel for the vehicles. Therefore, many children are missing their court dates. Regular court dates
mean that a child’s case is being heard and they will be able to go home soon - back to school, back to their families, and back in their own beds. Some of the girls, feeling hopeless without these regular court dates, which are required by law, cut a hole in the roof and tried to escape.

At M1, there are currently 42 children who should not be there. Their sentences have ended and they should be at home. However, yet again, the government has not provided the funds needed to get them home. The funds help cover the cost of
transportation, food, and social workers. When children stay past their time, they often try to escape, which can be very dangerous. Additionally, the extra children creates a strain on the allotted food and resources. The cost to get these children back to their remote villages, literally all over Uganda, is expensive, but we want to
show these children that they are worth it.

Would you join us in praying that the staff at the facilities can care for these children well? We are also praying for Sixty Feet staff – that they would have the wisdom and knowledge to respond to these different situations wisely and compassionately? Lastly, we pray that in all things, these children would know the love of Christ and that He would be glorified.

If you want to give to these specific needs, or others, you can do so on DonorSee or our website!
